20th ANNIVERSARY Twenty years ago, the possibility of a two-year col lege surviving in the Adirondack Wilderness seemed to be remote. The college’s first president served for eight years during which there were no students, faculty, no college, except in name. Frederick G. Leasure became President in 1946 and in the fall of that year 181 stu dents enrolled for classes. Our president, Dr. Chester L. Buxton, took office in 1948 and under his leadership the College has flourished. The following comment appeared in the 1957 St. Re gion. \Today as a decade of existence is recorded, we are watching the new Cafeteria Building as it nears com pletion. Another step forward for Young Paul Smith's College.” Likewise, as two decades of existence is rec orded, we are watching the new three story Administra tion Building as it nears completion. Another step for ward for a not so young Paul Smith s College.
