NEWMAN CLUB At the end of the 1954-55 school yeor, the Newman Club found that it had lost its advisor and most of its members. However, when school opened again this Fall, a re-organization meeting was held, officers were elected, and Mr. Hoecker was selected as the new advisor. About a month before the annual Christmas Cotillion, Father Richardson, who had been chaplain of the Club for several years, was transferred out of our parish and Rev. Joseph F. Dowd arrived to become our Chaplain. The Cotillion Weekend, December 9-10-11, came off as scheduled and was attended by a large crowd. All of the events connected with the Candle light Cotillion took place on campus. On Friday night, the Dramatic Club presented a Christmas Show in the gym. This was followed by a sock dance and an eggnog party in the Rec Hall. Saturday afternoon, there was a volleyball game in the gym featuring the boys of the Varsity Club and the faculty. Saturday evening a Buffet Dinner was held in the hotel and this was followed by the semi-formal dance in the Rec Hall. Early in the year, Father McNamara, Prison Chaplain at Dannemora, gave a talk to the Club on life in the prison. As usual, Club members formed a choir to sing at the weekly Lenten devotions. Communion breakfast and trips were held for special occasions. One of these was to the Conference of the Confraternity of Christian doctrine held in Lake Placid. First Row: J. Murphy, J. Denslow, B.
