B O A R D O F T R U S T E E S In compliance with the terms of the will of Mr. Phelps Smith, son of the renowned Paul Smith and last survivor of the Smith family, a co-educational College at Paul Smiths was founded and the Executors appointed a Hoard of Trustees consisting of: The Honorable 0. Byron Brewster, Elizabethtown, N. Y.; John B. Trevor, New York. N. Y.: John M. Cantwell. Jr.. Malone, N. Y.; John R. Freer. Saranac Lake. N. Y .: Hon. Thomas F. Conway, Plattsburg, N. Y.; Miss Hilda Fletcher. Saranac Lake. N. Y .: Mrs. Carlene D. Holcombe. Greenwich, Conn.; Horace H. Lamberton, Malone, N. Y .; Earl C. MacArthur. Hightstown, N. J.; Lithgow Osborne. Auburn, N. Y. On October 15, 1937. the New York State Board of Regents chartered Paul Smith’s College of Arts and Sciences and thereafter the following additional members were elected: Frank L. Cubley. Potsdam. N. Y.: Eugene G. Bewkes, Canton, N. Y.; Howard V. Littell, Saranac Lake, N. Y.; Arthur F. Chace, New York, N. Y .; Wayne Livermore. Malone, N. Y.: Richard J. Longtin, Paul Smiths. N. Y. A meeting of the Board of Trustees of utmost importance to all of us was held at Paul Smiths on December 11. 1937. at which time the Board dedicated itself to do all in its power to make Paul Smith’s a successful college. The plans from the outset have been, as Mr. Lamberton.
